Actinic keratoses (AK) are pre-cancerous lesions located on chronically sun exposed areas. UV-induced DNA damages have been widely suggested as the main trigger of AK development. Nicotinamide (a NAD precursor) topical application prevents UV-induced immunosuppression and apoptosis, increases the production of ATP, cell cycle activity and DNA repair.
